Notes from E3

First of all, we need to congratulate our partner GAEMS for releasing their new website a few days ago.  We were thrilled to be part of the team that helped them realize their dream of capturing the “GAEMS Effect” on the website. And what timing!  The GAEMS team released the website before E3, where they have an amazing presence along with their partner Turtle Beach.   Now, how’s that for an impact?  The GAEMS trucks were deployed in full force at the booth.  People not only admired the machines but also started playing games using the Vanguard product and absolutely remained glued to the experience. GAEMS is ultimately a design shop and this was visible to everyone at the show. Not only were the trucks-as-ambassadors a big hit, but the aesthetic of the new M240 monitor blew folks away. Being part of this journey has been great for Advaiya and we are so glad to see our partner rocking E3 so hard.

ScrumTotal – A unique collaboration app for the goal oriented

At Advaiya, we’ve had the opportunity to see many technologies and methodologies aimed at helping teams collaborate and achieve goals.  We’ve had a great deal of experience helping companies deliver massive projects through our expertise in and experience with Enterprise Project Management (EPM).  EPM is a powerful set of tools and technologies, that help drive execution at a grand scale. That said, there continue to be different approaches to how best to bridge the gap between lofty goals and executing against them.  On this matter, we welcome the thoughts of Ashok Singh, a seasoned veteran of the agile methodology, whose teachings are in high-demand- Singh talks about the power of small, dispersed and empowered teams in changing the face of organizational productivity.  A passionate purveyer and evangelist of ideas, Singh has recently launched a company, ScrumTotal; the eponymous app allows for intuitive collaboration and is designed for dynamic, small teams to achieve radical goals quickly. Singh believes strongly in the intellectual power of “ordinary people” who when combined create amazing outcomes.  “Agile is very much about disrupting hierarchies and power-centers and understanding that both intellect and productive capacity reside everywhere, not just in the core,” says Singh. We look forward to seeing ScrumTotal succeed and we ourselves will help play a part in this success by adopting what we have seen to be a powerful tool undergirded by a powerful philosophy.

Go GAEMS and Go E3!

I’m very excited about going to E3 with GAEMS, a strong Advaiya customer and strategic partner.  At the show, GAEMS will be discussing not only their awesome product set and innovative new gaming monitor and gaming portability solutions but also, their design-centricity and what has become a true IP-Hub for design thinking. Many companies think about themselves in restrictive terms, but that simply doesn’t work for founders Dean Mercier and John Smith, who are expansive as ever in their view of the possibilities. “At E3, we not only want to show the community our products, but want to impress upon them how design-thinking has allowed us to both meet and define customer needs in an agile and ever—dynamic fashion,” says Mercier.  Smith adds, “We love the community deeply and continue to re-commit our marketing, product, and design efforts to serving them.” Situated in the same zone as GAEMS partner Turtle Beach, the show-floor and the conversations will no doubt be exciting and certainly represent a radical opportunity for Advaiya.  We are excited to have a truly innovative and community-oriented partner in GAEMS and continue to learn from Mercier and Smith, whose designs you will find in our Redmond office!

Dreaming GAEMS!

One of the most enjoyable aspects of my job is learning from our customers and partners.  When I want to get pushed out of my comfort zone, I talk to the people we work with, who are doing amazing things in industry, service, and in their communities. Take GAEMS, a leading proponent of high-tech and high-design, manifesting in the form of mobile gaming environments- though ostensibly they create a hardware solution, in fact they have created a design-based “metaphor” for the possibilities offered by the cross between physical gaming and mobility.  This metaphor can be extended to a myriad of other areas and I am waiting with bated breath to see their expansion plans.  Who knows, in 3 years they might have transformed other industries just as they transformed their own in the past few years. The genius involved in such companies really stems from two seemingly contradictory ideas- the power of focus and the power of dreaming.  Imagine when both of these come together and fuse into one philosophy which states that “We’ll dream big and we’ll focus on making those dreams real.” In the case of GAEMS, we are proud to count them as customers, partners, and friends.  At Advaiya, we get to dream with companies like GAEMS and execute relentlessly against the visions we have!

Event Networking and Wearables

Right now, I have the pleasure of advising Limefy, an innovative company with a purpose.  The idea behind the company is disarmingly simple- at physical events and gatherings, people need to be able to do meaningful networking and create mutually beneficial relationships.  Though the charter might seem obvious, less obvious is the fact that 4 out of 5 conference-goers call-out lack of networking as a significant factor in their ROI calculations for attendance. The insight the Limefy team developed was that breaking the ice requires an “in the moment” nudge for most.  No doubt there are some “born” networkers who can implicate themselves gracefully into discussions but for most, an “opening gambit” of sorts is needed.  Enter Limefy, a wearable networking solution that actually lights up when a conference-goer is in the vicinity of someone with whom they have affinity. The promise of digital transformation, wearable computing, and even the Internet of Things in general is expressed not only in the science-fiction fantasies that now seem to be realities but also in taking traditional “needs” (like the desire to connect with like-minded people) and easing the pathways to satisfying them. That is the goal of Advaiya- to find innovative and technology-led solutions to known and unknown problems.  I’m really enjoying being affiliated with both Advaiya and Limefy!
